National Day for Truth and Reconciliation - Orange Shirt Day

We are so pleased to see All Our Relations, a public artwork led by @angelademontigny, being used for Indigenous ceremony and reflection.

Join us on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation on September 30th, as the City of Hamilton hosts a community sunrise ceremony & afternoon event at West Harbour - James St. N. Plaza - to come together to commemorate and honour residential school survivors, their families and communities.

Afternoon event from 1-3:30pm

Hamilton West Harbour at the foot of James St. North (North of Guise St. East)

The afternoon will be filled with Indigenous knowledge sharing, a Survivor’s Story, Education and Reflection.

Hosted by the City of Hamilton’s Indigenous Relations Team, Placemaking and Public Art Section and welcome guests - Mohawk Institute Survivor, Moccasin Identifier, Spirit Vision Drummers.

Indigenous snacks provided (while quantities last).

Artist and Team: Angela DeMontigny, with support from Paull Rodrigue Glass, Cobalt Connects, Lafonatine Iron Werks Inc., and EXP.
