Public Art Ceremony on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

Join us this Saturday, September 30th, as we celebrate Hamilton’s newest piece of public art entitled ‘All Our Relations’ by local Indigenous artist, Angela DeMontigny and artist team, Paull Rodrigue Glass, Cobalt Connects, Lafontaine Iron Werks Inc. and EXP.

The event will celebrate the installation of this striking and culturally significant public artwork while honouring the National Day of Truth and Reconciliation. We will begin at sunrise with a Sunrise Ceremony - the Sacred Fire will burn throughout the day. Drumming will take place at 10:30am with remarks at 11am by Indigenous leaders and knowledge keepers, City leadership and Angela DeMontigny.

The afternoon will feature kid-friendly hands-on activities as well as Indigenous music, light regreshments and ceremony. Docents will be on hand to assist in exploring this monumental artwork featuring nearly 8,000 handmade glass beads installed in five, 40 foot panels.

Location: Hamilton West Harbour, James St. N. (north of Guise St.)
